Jennifer Robertson (SLT Dublin) 12:15pm 15th February 2008:
Could we also add Waardenburg's syndrome and Connexin 26?
deirdre lucas (consultant in audiovestibular medicine; paediatric CI programme, RNTNE) 8:13pm 22nd February 2008:
I developed a slightly different database for diagnosis (aetiology)which separates the diagnosis into categories, then subgroups and finally into specific conditions
eg. gends = genetic, dominant, syndromal,
then divided into Waardenburg S, BOR, otosclerosis/otospongiosis,osteogenesis imperfecta;
genrns = genetic, recessive, non-syndromal, divided into Connexin 26, other.
similarly, infiu = intrauterine infection divided into rubella, CMV, toxoplasmosis, syphilis etc;
infaq = infection, aquired then divided into meningitis types, syphilis etc.
these are just examples of the whole which we kept simple in the first instance.
Would be happy to discuss.
