NEAP
Nottingham Early Assessment Package (NEAP) is a battery of procedures for the assessment of very early communication and linguistic development. It is widely used in cochlear implant programmes, and in other work with deaf children. The package is composed of the following assessments:
Auditory Perception
Meaningful Auditory Information Scale
Communication Language Development
Story Narrative Assessment Package
Profile of Actual Linguistic Skills
Speech Production Development
Profile of Actual Speech Skills
Speech Intelligibility Rating
The NEAP database from Bawtry Computer Services is a single user database which enables the recording and analysis of NEAP data. In addition to recording the results of the assessments, the database enables the recording of demographic, aetiological, cochlear implant device and processor details. Analysis of data is facilitated by selection on demographic and aetiological criteria, and export of data to Microsoft Excel, chart or CSV file. The database requires a PC running Microsoft Windows 98 or later, and optionally Microsoft Excel.
